baby – True Life is Beautiful

When I get a call from a friend who I absolutely adore, and she asks me to photograph her sweet little two year old, my heart just melts. This age seems so magical to me …. the wide eyes, the flailing legs, the almost smile (okay, maybe gas … ), the cute outfits, and the nursery that is almost always dressed just perfectly. Be still, oh heart!!!

I’ve known Lianna when she worked for Center for Grieving Children, when I did a lot of volunteer photography for the organization. We became fast friends, and now she is a Mom — a wonderful, attentive, nurturing, loving mom. And although I don’t know Nick very well, it’s clear he has this diaper and Dad thing down pat!

This is a wonderful age for a lifestyle session … you know, capturing those seemingly ordinary moments that when frozen in time, are really quite extraordinary. Here is Lianna, Nick and little lady Jocelyn …

This. Little. Girl.

She was born not breathing, and they didn’t know for how long she had been without oxygen. She was handled with care, this beautiful, strong, fierce little fighter, because she was precious stock and she was needed by so many people. There were lots of phone calls, texts, tears, prayers, and faith. They worked, and as it turns out, she is pretty darn perfect.

Meet Joey — Princess Warrior extraordinaire, and she is a delight! She is the granddaughter of my dear friend Kristi, and the daughter of my darling friend Lindsay, who I remember as a sweet little baby herself, and have watched grow into a lovely woman and now a mom. My heart is full that I get to now watch little Joey sprout from an infant into toddlerhood and beyond (no rush…), to document the days ahead and photograph her in all her specialness.

Ten little fingers and ten little toes. Beautiful blue eyes and a sweet button nose. I didn’t intend to make that rhyme, but there you go. She inspires me. 🙂
